Northwild sells tents, outdoor clothing and bikes for people going out into British weather. We are small, we are online only, and we would rather sell you the cheaper thing that works than the expensive thing that does not.
How we write product pages
Three rules, and we hold to them even when they make a page look thinner than a competitor’s:
- We publish figures manufacturers actually state. If a tent has no published packed weight, the row is missing rather than estimated. Several pages here have short specification tables for exactly that reason.
- Every comparison is counted, not asserted. When a page says six tents here sleep two and they run from £139.99 to £229.99, that was computed from the catalogue when the page was built. It cannot drift out of date and it cannot be wrong.
- Every product says what it is not for. A hardtail is a poor descender. A fleece is not a waterproof. An uninsulated glove is no use standing still in the cold. Telling you that is the most useful thing a specialist shop can do, and it is the part most shops leave out.
What we do not do
No urgency timers, no invented scarcity, no “12 people are viewing this”. We have no sales history, so we do not publish best-seller badges — where the site recommends something it says on its face why, and the reason is a fact you can check.
Honesty about this site
Northwild is a school project. The catalogue is real: every price on it was read from a live UK retailer and the products exist. But this is coursework, not a trading business — the checkout runs in test mode and no order placed here will ever be dispatched or charged.
